Penn State Applied Research Lab
State College, PA
December 1990 to June 2001
Department Head, CBM

As Department Head, Carl Byington managed over 20 engineers and led programs on the use of conventional modeling and artificial intelligence methods for condition monitoring of drivetrains, gas turbine engines, fluid circuits and electrochemical systems. Carl led these teams in the design and development of four failure test beds for generating incipient fault data for development, validation and maturation of predictive analytics algorithms. Transitioned these to the US Navy and other customers.

NASA Langley Research Center
